My newest project is fulfilling the role of co-organizer for Startup Weekend: Library Edition, the first Startup Weekend specifically catered to librarians and information professionals. You can find out all about it on the our website, and if you want to follow what’s going on, you can like our Facebook page and find us on Twitter (also #SWTOLib). Registration is open now, and filling up fast!
My fellow organizers are the incredible Helen Kula, M.J. D’Elia, Meg Ecclestone, and June Avila. They were hard at work before I came on board, but we’re ramping up even more now! It’s been a lot of fun so far, and given my role is the strange world of social media and communications, I’ve been learning a lot. Although I’m fairly active on Twitter and far too active for my own good on Facebook, launching an event campaign is a whole other world. I’ve found it requires a great deal of forethought and organization, much more than I thought initially.
Coming up in February I’ll be doing an interview with Bitmaker Labs about the event, and I hope to have some awesome guest blogs up on the site over the next three months. The Twitter and Facebook profiles will be active throughout, so they’re your best bet for announcements.
Feel free to ask me anything about it, especially if you’re interested in volunteering or your organization is interested in being a sponsor!
